Generally speaking, the aligner treatment is considered a proven treatment method in orthodontics to correct slight to moderate malocclusions. Clear aligners have gained significant popularity for their convenience, discretion, and ability to provide fast results.

If after treatment your end result does not match the predicted result shown on the treatment plan, you will receive further Aligners free of charge – until you are happy with the result.

You should take out your aligners when smoking. Otherwise you run a higher risk of them becoming discoloured (becoming brownish) or misshapen.

When wearing aligners, you will notice pressure on your teeth. This is perfectly normal and means that your teeth are moving into the desired position. With each new aligner, the feeling of pressure decreases after 3–4 days.

If you experience pain while wearing your aligners, please contact your bestsmile practice immediately.

You should remove your aligners before eating and drinking alcohol, hot beverages such as coffee or tea and soft drinks. It is not necessary to remove your aligners to drink water.

As a general rule, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment as long as your remove your aligners beforehand.

However, we strongly advise against chewing gum during your treatment with aligners. Gum can stick to the aligners and damage them. Here you will find more information on what foods to avoid during aligner treatment.

• Dissatisfaction with the medical staff

• Treatment prognosis does not match the outcome

• Pain during the course of treatment

Most factors are subjective. The fact that the treatment takes longer or the result does not match 100% with the predicted treatment plan can occur due to unforeseen aspects, such as hard bones, which can make successful tooth movement difficult.
